The Best Things We Ate and Drank This Weekend

The Best Thing We Drank — Mikkeller Warrior IPA: I decided to honor our return to the East coast with a beer straight from nearby….Denmark. Well, it’s not exactly drinking local, but it is one of my favorites of late. The standout in Mikkeller’s single hop series, this IPA features the Warrior hop, and is dry, bitter, yet smooth as a result. I made the mistake of ordering it as part of my flight at The Double Windsor, which only served to enhance my desire for a pint when I’d come back to it from the other beers included in the flight. And here’s a tip: If you can find Mikkeller on draught in New York, it will always be cheaper than buying the same 12oz bottle. – Brian

The Best Thing We Ate — Pecan Pie at Fort Defiance: There are few things I love more than a good slice of pecan pie, and let me tell you folks — this is a damn good slice of pecan pie. A crumbly crust and the perfect ratio of pecan pie goo to actual pecan (aka, heavy on the goo) make this the perfect slice for a hot, sticky afternoon. Especially when paired with Fort Defiance’s unbeatable summer cocktails. Try the Presbyterian, a ginger infused cocktail that pairs perfectly with the pie. – Kristen
