Giveaway: In the Kitchen with a Good Appetite

Usually, the cookbooks I buy are health-conscious, and often, they are largely vegetarian. While I love sugar and fat, most often I find the food that my body craves is greener in color. But sometimes, the day just calls for an ooey-gooey grilled cheese, a cream-laden soup or a buttery cake. Melissa Clark’s In the Kitchen with a Good Appetite is a cookbook for exactly those days.

Lucky for you all, we have one copy to giveaway. Just tell us about your favorite comfort foods in the comments by midnight on Friday.

I second the Mac N Cheese, but homemade is best. I love it with sharp cheddar, and jalepenos and finished under the broiler for a few moments.

Best comfort food is the grilled cheese with apples at Henry’s Public in Boerum Hill. Part of the comforting part is not having to make it myself!

I love a big bowl of creamy tomato soup. I like to top it with a dollop of creme freche and a squeeze of lemon.

As cliche as it sounds, my grandmother makes a phenomenal chicken soup. She puts a little nutmeg in it for a little something special.
